The discovery of this recipe changed my life (in a really really good way).
A 2-minute snack or dessert that could be made from 4 ingredients and tasted well, beyond.
I'd been playing around with banana and cinnamon flavours for a little while over summer and realised I'd never given the famed cacao bean a crack here.
And so, I did.

The thing about cacao (of the raw variety) is that we can derive incredible antioxidant benefits from it and a little goes a long way.
I've written more about this incredible seed here though for this post, I'll keep it as simple as possible.
How do we pronounce it?
Cacao (ca-cow)…
What is it?
The seed of a fruit of an Amazonian tree - we end up with a powdered version when buying raw cacao
Does it have sugar?
It contains no sugar
What's so awesome about it?
It has the highest antioxidant value of all the natural foods in the world
It's lack of sugar and high naturally occurring fat levels is what makes this super powder so super satisfying and why a little goes a long way.
I'm not about rubbishing other foods out there or making you feel bad about your decisions however, why would you eat something sub-standard when you can eat this.
So easily too.
Seriously, so easily.

- 1 large frozen banana
- ½ cup almond milk (coconut milk
can substitute here) - 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
- 1 heaped tablespoon almond butter (optional)
- Whizz all ingredients in a blender on high for 30 seconds - 1 minute
- Once well combined and smooth, scoop out and serve
If made ahead of time, note that the lack of preservatives in this 'ice cream' make it more solid and therefore longer to defrost. It’s fastest when made to serve.
Enjoy every mouthful of this delicious treat and feel good about what you're putting in your body.
That's what food should always be about.
