In the words of psychologist, educator and author Catherine Cook-Cottone, Ph.D. self-care is defined in the following way, "....as the daily process of being aware of and attending to one’s basic physiological and emotional needs including the shaping of one’s daily routine, relationships, and environment as needed to promote self-care."
And self-care has shown to be fundamental to our overall wellbeing. It's also an area that I explore extensively with clients as their core supportive foundations.
This episode explores:
- self-care defined
- why intention matters
- self-care framed as needs and wants
- an entirely new framework to consider self-care behaviours
- how to avoid self-care becoming an overwhelming list
- where to begin
